Applications with important functions, like cleaning up the hard drive or scanning for viruses, can be set to launch automatically when Windows starts. It spares you from looking for its .exe file or placing a shortcut on your desktop and it can be very useful if you want to schedule a scanning process. Unfortunately, there are many other programs which can do the same thing, but their functions are not that important. It is pointless to enable the auto run feature for an application, which you rarely use, because it will waste valuable resources, especially during Windows startup, when critical services are being executed. SterJo StartUp Monitor Pro keeps track of your non essential startup programs and it lets you disable them with a single click on a button.

The software is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and Win 7. It requires only 3 Mb of free space on your hard drive and nothing else. It can be installed easily and it comes in a variety of languages. You should also know that SterJo StartUp Monitor Pro is part of a larger software suite, designed to give you better control over some Windows features.

Regarding the user interface, SterJo StartUp Monitor Pro is similar to its counterparts. It lists all the applications which are set to launch automatically during the system's startup. Besides an application's name, the software also displays the path of its .exe file, registry section, product description, company, version and much more. You can disable any listed program by selecting its entry in the list and clicking an option on the interface's toolbar. Once disabled, that program will not launch automatically anymore.

You can also access a properties window for an application's .exe file or execute the application. It is possible to set any other application to run automatically by adding its .exe file to SterJo StartUp Monitor Pro's list. After clicking a plus icon on the toolbar, a small window will appear, where you have to name the program, specify the path to its executable file and select its section in the registry from a drop menu.

The software's name contains the word "monitor" for a reason. Regardless if it's a default setting or the user manually sets an application to launch at startup, a notification will pop up on the screen and you can choose to allow or deny this. If you allow the action, the software in question will be added automatically to SterJo StartUp Monitor Pro's watch list. This is available for any program. Even if you set SterJo StartUp Monitor Pro to run automatically, you will be notified with the same message and you will have the same options.

Pros

SterJo StartUp Monitor Pro can enable or disable the auto run feature of any application, except critical ones. The interface is simple and clean, so it is very easy to use the software's features.

Cons

When you disable an application's auto run feature, its entry will disappear from the list. With its simplicity and its straightforward functions, SterJo StartUp Monitor Pro lets you decide which applications are allowed to launch automatically or not.
